into a site, there is usually a "lobby" (screen) with a
selection
of game types at various stakes. Pick a game, (usually texas
hold'em but other games like stud omaha etc are also available) click
on a table listing that shows a limit and number of seated players that
your are interested in and this will bring up a screen with a table in
action. Empty
seats will be marked and clicking on them will usually bring up a
dialog box asking how much of your money you want to bring to the
table. You will then have the option to wait for the blinds or start
playing immediately. This options is usually in the corner or somewhere
near the bottom. Checkbox your preferences, click "sit in" if required.
If you happen to sit in just as the blinds pass, you may have to wait a
round or two until the button has passed and you will then be dealt on
the next round with your blind bet added to the pot along with regular
blinds. When
it is your
turn to act, there will be buttons labeled, Bet, Call, Fold, Raise.
Some also have additional buttons like "fold in turn" when you know
what you are going to do before your turn arrives. Click on an action
button and that is it. If you get to a showdown, the cards
will
be displayed
and the pot awarded to the winner. The poker software
shuffles, keeps track of pot bets and any side bets, button position
etc. and calculates the winning hand automatically. This
relegating of dealer duties to a machine speeds up the game
dramatically and poker being a fast paced game as it is, makes online
poker a rather addictive pastime that is gaining in popularity
